This opportunity is tailored for young minds aged 13 to 18, offering an engaging and direct experience in the world of STEM and Environmental Conservation. Through our intensive on the job training program, participants will gain a fundamental understanding of effective science communication and educational program development. You'll be exposed to best practices in informal education, fostering skills in critical thinking, communication, creative thinking, and collaborative work.

During the internship, you'll begin an exciting learning journey that includes various components:

Orientation Training
Begin your journey with comprehensive seminars that introduce you to The Scientific Center's departments, functions, strategic objectives, workplace ethics, service quality, and attraction offerings. Get ready to dive into a world of possibilities!

On-the-Job Training
Experience the inner workings of The Scientific Center as you rotate through core departments, including Education, Aquarium, and Marketing. With individualized schedules and dedicated mentors, you'll develop essential competencies such as effective science communication, pedagogical models of learning, program design, environmental conservation, animal welfare, aquarium operations, and more. Mentors will help you develop across the following core competencies:

  • Effective Science Communication
  • Classroom Management
  • Pedagogical models of learning
  • Educational program design and development
  • Developing competency frameworks for STEM-Based programs
  • Desert, Coastal and Marine Habitat ecology
  • Environmental Conservation
  • Animal Welfare
  • Aquarium Operations
  • Retail operations
  • Quality assurance and customer service
  • General knowledge of corporate and organizational structures
  • Management reporting
  • Design and delivery of educational programs
  • Professional ethics and communication skills
  • Time management

  • Interpersonal skills


Project-Based Learning Assignments

Put your skills to the test with weeklong assignments across all rotations. These practical projects will challenge your creativity, problem-solving abilities, and teamwork skills.

Internship Booklet

Document your progress and reflections in weekly reports within your intern booklets. These reports will serve as a testament to your growth and achievements throughout the program.

Performance Review Meetings

Attend weekly meetings with mentors and supervisors to discuss your progress, address any challenges, and ensure that your skills-based training aligns with your goals.

Junior Science Communication Internship Program (ages 13-15):

Batch 1: July 3 - August 3 (Application Deadline: June 25)
Batch 2: August 7 - September 7 (Application Deadline: August 1).
 
Senior Science Communication Internship Program (ages 16-18):

Batch 1: July 5 - August 3 (Application Deadline: June 25)
Batch 2: August 9 - September 7 (Application Deadline: August 1).

Cost of Program:

KWD 100 per person / month
This amount is nonrefundable and payable upon successful completion of the interview
